## Overview
SpotOn Express **Fixed-Price Discounts** set a discounted price for menu items during scheduled times, ideal for **happy hours and daily specials** such as $5 margaritas, pints, or $10 appetizers on Sunday Nights.
Unlike percentage-off or dollar-off discounts, Fixed-Price Discounts replace an item’s base price for the schedule you set.

## Create a Fixed-Price Discount
1. Log in to the **[SpotOn Dashboard](https://dashboard.spoton.com/)****.**
2. Navigate to **Menu & Tables > Discounts**.
3. Select **Add Discount** in the upper-right corner.
4. Select **Item discount** from the dropdown.
5. Add the **Discount Details**:
- **Name ** – Enter a clear and easy-to-recognize discount name.
- **Apply Discount **– Choose whether the discount should apply **Before Tax** or **After Tax**.
- **Value** – Select Fixed Price and enter the price the item should have during the set period.
- **Example:** Enter **$5 **for a “$5 Pints” happy hour.
- If a pint normally costs $8, the system applies a $3 discount so the price is $5 while the discount is active.
6. Scroll to the **Automatic Scheduling** section
> ℹ️ **Automatic Scheduling will be enabled by default** when the “Fixed price” discount value type is selected.
7. Set the **days of the week** and **times** of day this discount is available.
- **Example:** Every **Mon, Tue,** **Wed, & Thu **from** 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM** for a happy hour.
8. **Assign Items:** Assign the discount to specific menu items or categories.
> ⚠️ New menu items are not added automatically. Add any new items to this discount manually.
9. Select **Add discount** to save your changes.
> ℹ️ A confirmation banner will appear when the discount was created successfully. The discount will only be visible from the POS verification during the scheduled times.

## How it Works
The examples below show how Fixed Price discounts apply to items.

- **Discount Applied:** - $3 | On Wednesdays, from 5:00 PM to close, the discount, price adjustment, and total appear on the POS, the customer receipt, and in reporting.

## **Frequently Asked Questions**
**Can I apply a Fixed-Price Discount manually?**
No. Fixed-Price Discounts can only be applied automatically during their scheduled window and can not be manually applied from the POS.
**Will new items in a category automatically receive the discount?**
No. You must manually add any new menu items to the discount.
**Can I combine Fixed-Price with other discounts?**
Yes, they *can* be combined with other manual discounts, but do not schedule overlapping discounts that automatically apply to the same item at the same time. Overlapping discounts may cause inconsistent pricing.

## Troubleshooting
**The Fixed-Price discount I created is not automatically applying; how do I fix it?**
1. Confirm the discount is **Active** in Discount details.
2. Verify the schedule and confirm the **current time** falls within the **scheduled window**.
3. Ensure the correct **menu item** is assigned to the discount.
4. Check whether the item already has another scheduled discount; only one can apply.
5. Confirm the item’s **base price** is current. If you recently updated it, reconfigure the discount. The discount fixed price must be lower than the base price to apply.
