## Overview
The SpotOn Express **Accounting Summary** report provides a detailed snapshot of your restaurant’s sales performance for a selected date range.
It brings together key metrics such as gross sales, discounts, refunds, taxes, tips, and payments—helping you track revenue, understand how totals are calculated, and reconcile daily activity with confidence. You can view totals across multiple breakdowns and apply filters to focus on specific employees, order types, or payment methods.
For deeper analysis, the report can also be exported as a CSV file.

## Review Report Details
**What’s Included in the Accounting Summary**
The following metrics are displayed in the report:
| **Metric** | **Description** |

| **Gross Sales** | Total sales before discounts, refunds, and taxes |
| - **# of Orders** | Total number of orders |
| - **Quantity** | Total items sold |
| - **Voided Sales*** | Value of voided transactions |
| **Total Refunds** | Total refunded amount |
| - **Refund # of Orders** | Number of refunded orders |
| - **Refunded Quantity** | Total refunded items |
| **Discounts on Item Sales** | All applied discounts |
| **Net Sales** | Gross Sales minus Discounts and Refunds |
| **Auto Gratuity** | Automatically applied gratuities |
| **Credit Card Surcharges** | Surcharge amounts collected |
| **Other Fee Revenue** | Additional fees collected |
| **Total Revenue** | Net Sales plus fees and surcharges |
| **Total Tips** | Tips collected |
| **Expected Taxes** | Taxes are calculated based on configuration |
| - **Sales Tax (Exclusive)** | Sales tax collected |
| - **Tax Exemptions and Adjustments*** | Tax differences from exemptions or third-party tax collection |
| - **Rounding Amount** | Minor rounding adjustments |
| **Gift Cards** | Gift cards sold |
| **Discounts on Gift Card Sales** | All applied discounts to Gift Card sales |
| **Total Payments** | Total payments collected |
| **Payments Uncollected** | Outstanding unpaid amounts |
| **Payments Collected** | Completed and collected payments |
> ℹ️ **Voided Sales:** Voided sales are included in the Sales Summary and can be viewed in the **Grand Total** as well as across all breakdowns, including **by day, by employee, and by fulfillment type**, improving transparency and reconciliation accuracy.
> ℹ️ **Tax Exemptions and Adjustments:** This line item highlights tax differences caused by fully tax-exempt orders (such as schools or churches) and third-party delivery services that collect taxes based on delivery location. This makes it easier to understand and reconcile small tax variances directly in the report.

## Frequently Asked Questions ** **
**What’s the difference between Gross Sales and Net Sales?**
Gross Sales are total sales before any deductions. Net Sales reflect the total after discounts and refunds.
**Why are some orders marked as “Unpaid” or “Partially Paid”?**
These indicate open or incomplete transactions. Confirm payments are closed in the POS.
**Does the export include filters?**
Yes. The exported CSV reflects all active filters and the date range you’ve set.
