## Overview

An **order type** in a SpotOn Express restaurant is a sales category that defines how a customer receives food, such as dine-in or to go. Staff set this at the point of sale (POS) when ordering to inform kitchen staff how to process and package the order and to determine how the system taxes the transaction.

> ⚠️ Custom order types are not currently supported but are on the roadmap. One exception is “Drive Thru,” which is available alongside Dine In, Delivery, and To Go.
