## **Overview**

The **Cash Reconciliation** report provides a detailed breakdown of all cash-related activity for the day. It helps employees and managers verify cash handling, review tips, track cash movements, and identify any cash overages or shortages before completing a Close Out or End of Day (EOD).

If any print settings are changed after the drawer is opened, the report will display **"Adjusted"** to indicate that modifications were made after opening.

## **FAQs**

**Do all employees need to enter their own opening and closing cash amounts?**

Not necessarily. This depends on the establishment's cash management procedures and employee permissions. Some businesses require each employee to enter their own opening and closing cash amounts, while others have a manager enter and manage cash totals for the entire location.

**What is starting cash?**

Starting cash, also known as the cash float, is the amount of money placed in a cash drawer at the beginning of a shift or business day. It is used to provide change for cash transactions and to cover approved cash payouts.

**Where can I view my opening cash amount?**

From the FOH:

1. Go to **Show Commands**.
2. Select **Close Out**.
3. Tap your username.
4. Under **Cash Reconciliation**, locate **Open Cash**.

**Where can I view the total opening cash for the location?**

From the FOH:

1. Go to **Show Commands**.
2. Select **Close Out**.
3. Tap **End of Day**.
4. Select **Report**.
5. Under **Cash Reconciliation**, locate **Open Cash**.

This amount reflects the total opening cash entered by all employees for that business day.

**What is the difference between employee-level and location-level cash reconciliation?**

Employee-level Cash Reconciliation displays cash activity for a specific employee, including their opening cash, cash payments, tips, and closeout totals. Location-level Cash Reconciliation, accessed through the End of Day report, displays the combined cash activity for all employees and cash drawers for the business day.

**Why does my Cash Reconciliation report show "Adjusted"?**

The report displays **"Adjusted"** when report settings or print options were modified after the drawer was opened.

**What does an Over/Short amount mean?**

The Over/Short amount indicates whether the actual cash counted in the drawer matches the expected cash amount.

- **Over** = More cash than expected
- **Short** = Less cash than expected

**Are cash payouts included in Cash Reconciliation?**

Yes. Cash payouts and cash pay-ins are included in the **Cash Pay Ins & Outs** section to track cash movements that are not related to food and beverage sales, such as deposits, petty cash expenses, or other approved transactions.

**Why don't I see an option to enter opening or closing cash?**

The ability to enter opening and closing cash amounts is controlled by employee permissions and the establishment's cash management procedures. If you do not see these options, contact your manager for assistance.

## **Troubleshooting**

- Always verify the **Open Cash** amount before beginning a shift.
- Count the cash drawer carefully before completing a Close Out or End of Day.
- Review any **Cash Pay Ins & Outs** to ensure all non-sales cash movements are accounted for.
- If the drawer is consistently over or short, review cash handling procedures and employee permissions.
- Confirm your location's cash management method to understand how **Total Cash Due** is calculated.
