## **Overview**

SpotOn Restaurant POS allows you to configure your system to prompt Front of House (FOH) users to select an Order Type when an order is created or sent, rather than automatically assigning a default Order Type. This setting can be customized on a station-by-station basis—ideal if specific stations handle higher volumes of Carry Out or Drive-Thru orders compared to Dine-In.

## **Step-by-Step Instructions**

1. From the main **Back of House (BOH)** screen, select the **Station Types** icon.
2. Select the specific station type you wish to configure.
3. Scroll to the **Configuration** section and locate the **Order Type Prompt** drop-down menu.
4. Choose one of the following options based on your workflow needs:
  - **Prompt on New Order:** Displays a pop-up window with available Order Types as soon as the user starts a new order.
  - **Prompt on Send:** Displays a pop-up window with available Order Types when the user sends the order to the kitchen.
  - **None:** Disables prompts. All orders created at this station will automatically revert to the default Order Type.

**Q: Can I set different prompt rules for different register stations?**

A: Yes. Order Type prompts are managed at the Station Type level, allowing you to tailor the behavior for specific areas like the bar, counter service, or main floor terminals.

**Q: What happens if an employee ignores the prompt?**

A: The system requires an Order Type selection before the server can proceed with entering items (if set to *Prompt on New Order*) or sending the order (if set to *Prompt on Send*).

## **Tips**

- **Streamline High-Volume Stations:** If a station exclusively handles phone or online takeout orders, consider setting it to **None** and assigning "Carry Out" as its default Order Type to reduce extra button taps for staff.
- **Changes Not Appearing?** If you updated the setting in BOH but the terminal still behaves the old way, make sure to publish your BOH changes and refresh the app on the affected terminal.
