You can download Menu Item Bulk Information as a *.CSV file from the Bulk Editor in Back of House (BOH). This file provides the correct structure for reviewing, editing, or importing menu item data in bulk.

Downloading the CSV template helps ensure menu data is formatted correctly before making bulk updates or imports.

The file downloads as a *.CSV file.

**Can I edit the CSV before importing it back into BOH?**

Yes. You can update menu item information directly in the CSV file before importing it back into the system.

**Which programs can open the CSV file?**

Most spreadsheet programs support *.CSV files, including Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

**Does downloading the CSV make changes to my menu?**

No. Downloading the file only exports the information. No menu changes are made unless the file is edited and re-imported.  
  
**What information is included in the CSV?**

The Menu Items Bulk Editor CSV includes the following Menu Item information:

- **Item** – Menu Item name
- **Location** – Location associated with the Menu Item
- **Standard Price** – Standard selling price
- **Item Cost** – Internal cost of the item
- **Available** – Indicates whether the Menu Item is available
- **Use Qty On Hand** – Indicates whether quantity tracking is enabled
- **Quantity** – Current quantity on hand

> ℹ️ The Menu Items Bulk Editor CSV is not a complete menu export. It does not include the full menu configuration, such as Modifier Groups, Modifiers, taxes, or other menu relationships. Use the file to review or update the Menu Item fields supported by the Bulk Editor.

**Can I update Menu Item names and prices using the Menu Items Bulk Editor CSV?**

Yes. The CSV downloaded from the **Menu Items Bulk Editor** includes both the **Item** and **Standard Price** fields.

- **Item** – Menu Item name
- **Standard Price** – Standard selling price

These fields can be edited in the CSV file before importing it back into BOH.

## **Tips**

**File Does Not Download**

If the CSV file does not download:

- Refresh the BOH screen and try again
- Verify your internet connection
- Check whether your browser or system is blocking downloads

**File Will Not Open**

If the file does not open correctly:

- Ensure you are using a program that supports *.CSV files
- Confirm the file extension is still `.csv`
- Try opening the file in a different spreadsheet program

**Formatting Looks Incorrect**

If the data appears misaligned or displays in a single column:

- Confirm your spreadsheet program recognizes commas (,) as separators
- In Microsoft Excel, use the **Text to Columns** feature if needed
- Try importing the file into Google Sheets for improved formatting compatibility

**Additional Tip**

Before importing edited CSV files back into BOH, save a backup copy of the original file in case changes need to be reverted.
