## Overview

The Quantity on Hand feature allows employees to track available inventory directly from the Front of House (FOH). When enabled, menu items will display the remaining quantity available and automatically become unavailable once inventory reaches zero.

This feature helps staff quickly identify low-stock or out-of-stock items without needing to manually monitor inventory counts.

> ℹ️ *There are multiple ways to edit menu items from the FOH. **[Please see Edit Menu Item & Price | SpotOn Restaurant FOH](https://help.spoton.com/space/SK/839221353/Edit+Menu+Item+%26+Price+%7C+SpotOn+Restaurant+FOH)** for more information.*

## **Quantity on Hand Behavior**

---

## **Multi-Pack & Case Sales**

**Using Quantity on Hand with Packs or Cases**

For businesses that sell grouped items (such as a “Bucket of 6”), Quantity on Hand can be configured using sub-items to properly deduct inventory.

**Recommended Configuration**

Configure the parent item (example: **Bucket of 6**) so the sub-item maximum equals the quantity included in the pack.

Example:

- Parent Item: Bucket of 6
- Sub-Item: Single Bottle
- Sub-Item Maximum: 6

### **How It Works in FOH**

1. The employee rings in the parent item.
2. The sub-item selection screen automatically opens.
3. The employee taps the sub-item the appropriate number of times.
  - Example: Tap the bottle sub-item 6 times for a 6-pack sale.

This ensures inventory deducts correctly from the individual item count.

---

**Important Inventory Behavior**

If the parent item is voided, the system only restores a quantity of **1** back into inventory.

To correctly return inventory:

- Use **Modify** on the order.
- Remove each sub-item individually instead of voiding the parent item.

This ensures inventory quantities remain accurate.

## **FAQs**

**What happens when Quantity on Hand reaches zero?**

The menu item automatically becomes unavailable and appears grayed out in FOH.

---

**Can I manually restock an item?**

Yes. Open the item settings, update the Quantity on Hand value, and save the changes.

---

**What does the Out of Stock option do?**

Selecting **Out of Stock** immediately 86s the item and prevents it from being ordered, regardless of the Quantity on Hand value.

---

**Does Quantity on Hand update automatically when items are sold?**

Yes. Each time the item is ordered, the available quantity decreases automatically.

---

## **Troubleshooting**

- Verify that **Use Quantity on Hand** is enabled for the menu item.
- If an item remains grayed out, confirm that:
  - The Quantity on Hand value is greater than zero.
  - The **Out of Stock** option is not selected.
- For grouped inventory items (packs/cases), always remove sub-items individually to maintain accurate inventory counts.
- If inventory counts appear incorrect, review recent voids or modifications made to grouped items.
