## **Overview**
The **Teams** feature in the SpotOn Restaurant POS provides an easy and efficient way to split tips among multiple employees. Teams are commonly used in environments such as shared bar service, where tips are pooled regularly, or for one-time scenarios like large parties that require multiple servers.
When Teams are set up, servers are prompted to select a Team when starting a new order, ensuring tips are distributed according to the configured rules.

> ℹ️ A Client reports that an order was assigned to a Team with multiple servers, but when attempting to adjust the tip, only one server appears in the **Adjust Tips** screen. This can occur due to employee filtering, order ownership, Team Closeout workflows, or employee permission settings. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to identify the cause and adjust the tip successfully.

**Teams Setup **
> ✅ - Once complete, servers should start orders under that **Team**
> ✅ - Once the table leaves and all orders are closed out, you can view the **TEAM CLOSEOUT **under **Closeouts**, above the normal employee specific closeouts. Use this to determine tip share of the servers on that team.

## **FAQs**
**When should I use Teams instead of individual tip tracking?**
Teams are best used when multiple employees consistently share tips, such as bartenders working the same bar or servers handling a large party together.
**Can I edit a Team after it has been created?**
Yes. You can add or remove employees from a Team at any time. Changes apply to new orders moving forward and do not retroactively affect closed orders.
**Do employees need to be clocked in to join a Team?**
Yes. Employees must be clocked in before they can be added to a Team and receive tips.
**What happens if someone forgets to select a Team when starting an order?**
If a Team is not selected, the order will be assigned to the individual employee, and tips from that order will not be included in the Team tip pool.
**Can Teams be used for one-time events or large parties?**
Yes. Use the **Automatically Delete at End of Day** option to create Teams specifically for one-time events, such as large parties or special services.
**Does the Breakdown Method affect past orders?**
No. The Breakdown Method only applies to orders created after the Team is set up or updated.
**Where can I see how tips were split for a Team?**
Team tip distribution appears in the **Team Closeout** section under **Closeouts**, above individual employee closeouts.

## **Tips**
**Team Closeout is missing at End of Day**
- Confirm all Team orders have been fully closed.
- Verify all Team members were clocked in and assigned correctly.
- Ensure the Team was not deleted before closeout.
**Tips are not splitting as expected**
- Double-check the selected **Breakdown Method**.
- Confirm employees were added to the Team before orders were started.
- Verify employees remained clocked in during their service time.
**Employee is not appearing in the Team list**
- Make sure the employee is clocked in.
- Confirm the employee has the correct Job Position and FOH access.
**Personal orders are not allowed for Team members**
- Edit the Team and ensure **Allow Personal Orders** is enabled if needed.
**Best Practices**
- Create Teams before service begins to avoid missed tip pooling.
- Use clear, descriptive Team names (e.g., “Saturday Bar Team” or “Party of 12 – Patio”).
- Review Team Closeouts daily to confirm accurate tip distribution.
- Use one-time Teams for large parties instead of manually adjusting tips later.
