## **Overview**

Order Pacing helps restaurants manage online order volume by controlling how many orders can be accepted during specific times of the day. Pacing reduces the risk of becoming overwhelmed during busy periods and removes the guesswork from managing online ordering capacity.

Instead of manually managing incoming orders, managers can create pacing rules based on either a maximum number of orders or a maximum dollar amount within a defined time period.

Order Pacing helps ensure customers receive accurate wait times during peak hours while allowing restaurants to better manage kitchen workload and service quality.

**Benefits of Order Pacing**

- Control incoming orders based on kitchen capacity.
- Restrict new online orders once a pacing threshold has been reached.
- Create schedules based on specific days and times.
- Configure temporary overrides for special events or high-volume periods.
- Manage large orders by setting a maximum dollar amount per order.
- Improve the customer experience with more accurate order timing.

## **FAQs**

**How does Order Pacing handle large orders?**

You can configure a maximum dollar amount per order. If a customer's order exceeds the configured maximum, the Online Ordering system will prompt the customer to contact the restaurant directly to verify availability.

**Does Order Pacing apply to third-party delivery services?**

No. Order Pacing only applies to orders placed through SpotOn Online Ordering.

Orders submitted through third-party services or integrations, including DineLoyal, ItsaCheckmate, DoorDash Marketplace, Uber Eats, and similar platforms, are not managed by Order Pacing.

**What happens when a pacing limit is reached?**

The Online Ordering site continues to accept orders but automatically increases the lead time displayed to customers.

**What is the difference between a Pace and an Override?**

A **Pace** is a recurring schedule that applies on selected days and times.

An **Override** is a temporary schedule that applies only for a specific date and time range and does not repeat.

**Can I create multiple pacing schedules?**

Yes. Multiple pacing schedules can be configured throughout the week to accommodate different business volumes and operating hours.
