## Variable Priced Products and Services FAQs

### What is a variable-priced product?

Variable pricing is when the price of a good or service fluctuates based on market demand and product characteristics. A variable-priced product does not have a default price assigned to it until one is assigned during the checkout flow.

---

### What is the difference between a variable price and an open price?

Variable-priced products are actual products that exist in your catalog and are tracked in reports automatically, just like other fixed-price products.

Open-priced products require the user to type a name and price at checkout and are not cohesively tracked in reports.

---

### How are taxes applied to variable-priced products?

There is no difference in how taxes are applied to variable-priced products. Taxes are still managed from the **Taxes** section in **Catalog** **Settings**.

---

### Where can I see variable-priced products in my reports?

Variable-priced products will display in your itemized reports just as any other product within your catalog.

---

## Updating Item Prices

### How can I update the prices for an Item?

From the products section, navigate to your desired item. Click on the item, and it will take you to the edit section for the selected item. Navigate to the availability section, which will let you edit the price, quantity, and availability.
