## Charging 

The SpotOn Mobile card reader is designed with a long battery life, enabling you to process *hundreds *of transactions on a single charge. To recharge the reader, use the **micro-USB charger** included with your swiper. 

## Pairing the Card Reader to a Mobile Device

> ℹ️ Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the mobile device in order to pair the card reader.

| 1. Press the** power button** on the card reader to power it on
2. On your mobile device, log in to the** SpotOn Payments app** and follow the prompts to connect to the card reader, or go to **Settings**, then tap **Card Reader** at the bottom of the menu
3. Tap **Connect Card Reader** from the Card Reader Setup menu
4. Tap **Pair Card, Reader… **You will be taken to your mobile device’s **settings** to connect the card reader by **pairing it **to a new Bluetooth device
5. Tap the **serial number **displayed (matches the number printed on the back side of the SpotOn Mobile card reader [e.g., CHBXXXXXXXXXXXX])
  - If using an Android device, two options may appear with the serial number for your card reader; please select the option that shows the **phone icon**
6. Allow the device to connect and configure
7. The **Connected** status will appear once complete
8. Hit **X** to close out of the menu<br>> ℹ️ **Note**: The first time the device is connected to the card reader, it may take a few minutes to pair.  Once the device is paired with the card reader, it should connect automatically anytime you open the SpotOn Payments app, as long as the card reader is powered on and the Bluetooth is activated on your mobile device. | ![image](media://02a20f7f-81a6-48fd-9e46-6e072d8be12f) |


> ⚠️ The mobile reader may not pair with the latest smartphones or iPhones due to Bluetooth compatibility, as the mobile reader uses an outdated version of Bluetooth (Version 2.0).
